Re: World Athletics Championships - Budapest
Ingebrigsten won the 5000m last year after his silver setback in the 1500m. I am probably going to get this wrong as I predicted him to comfortably win the 1500m but I think the 5000m race will not go his way either as it's such a strong field.

Expect this will be dominated by the africans.

Cheptegei will be going for the 10000 / 5000 double and showed he's in good shape despite having not run a 5000m yet this year.

And there are at least 2 each from Ethiopa and Kenya who will be there or there abouts.

Mo Katir of Spain could possibly be the quickest of the Europeans the way he is running.

Either way, heats will be interesting today and might give us some indication, but the final could be one hell of a race.

What a run by Josh Kerr.

I did not think that would happen again but Kerr looked like he really wanted that. He's been saying for a few years now that his goal is to win and that is some confidence in an event that he wasn't even the fastest Brit for a while. But he's done it!

Agree about Johnson, the man has done it all and knows his shit, brilliant pundit. You cant knock Logan either. But Denise Lewis is a fucking vacuous braindead tick box appointment if ever I've seen one. I dont think she has a thought in her fucking head, the dunce. No insight from her, hopeless.

Agree, all great pundits.

Not sure about DL; she read news (not sure if it was national) a few years ago. She was SO bad. Didn’t last long.

How good is Michael Johnson as a pundit.
Probably the best sports presenter alongside John McEnroe.
Denise Lewis great as well.
Gaby Logan great as host.
Better than the Women's WC pundits.

This was fucking great today especially as the commentators were basically noshing off 'Inge yer shit son' throughout the entire race and barely talking about any other cunt in it.

Been good so far.
Quality over quantity seems to be paying off.

Did they copy our stadium, looks exactly the same, even the setting with the river Infront.

British middle distance is like London busses, nothing for years and now two in two years.

"Quisling, your boy took a hell of a beating.'

Although Quisling might be marginally less popular than Thatcher

Re: World Athletics Championships - Budapest
The only thing missing from the race was It would have been karma for Steve Cramm to go off on a “your boy took a beating” rant.

Possibly because there ain’t that long a list of famous Norwegians which come to mind.

Brilliant run by Kerr. Warholm superb in 400m hurdles. Ladies Pole Vault was excellent.

Re: World Athletics Championships - Budapest
The men’s 1500 was a great race. Twice now the Norwegian has been done by the race craft of different Scotsmen. Michael Johnson made a good point about how the Diamond League type paced races do not adequately prepare runners for international medal competitions.

On another note that Warholm is a warrior in the hurdles.

Re: World Athletics Championships - Budapest
Hodgkinson (800m) easily our best hope of a medal now in the track events (including marathon).

Snowden and Muir have an outside chance of a medal but that womens 15000m is stacked and Sifan Hassan will not want to go home empty handed after disappointment in the 10000m.

Ingebrigsten probably the shoe-in of the games for the mens 1500m. Kerr and Gourley again have a shot at a medal as the 1500m can be an exciting and open race.

Those are the stand out races for me with the Brits.

But the 5000m mens and womens finals should also be exciting.
